Is Internet Addiction a Mental Illness?
March 30th, 2008 by Frank
Wired says it might be so.
Being addicted to the web might get classified as a mental illness soon. Many of us, whether we’re networked professionals or casual users, spend much time surfing, chatting or downloading media. We can become too fascinated with what we can do online.
That some people want to consider internet addiction as a mental illness is an exaggeration in my opinion. You cannot control a person’s desire to do stuff online. After all, the web has such huge potential. It has lots of benefits, too! It boils down to the purpose of being online. There is a healthy limit to everything!
